If you're someone who wants to be actively involved in your dog's training journey, then private lessons might be the perfect fit for you! With our private lesson program, you'll work closely with us as we guide you and your pup towards achieving the desired behavior progress. We'll be right by your side every step of the way, teaching and coaching both you and your dog towards success.
Private Lessons may be suitable for:
Dogs who cannot be separated from their owners, i.e. service dogs, dogs with intense medical needs, etc.
Owners who want to be involved in every step of the training process
Overall, private lessons can be helpful to learn about any behavior. There is not really any behavior that would not benefit from a private lesson with a dog trainer.
Private Lessons may NOT be suitable for:
Quick results with minimal work on your part
Socialization
Dog-on-dog aggression
Dog-on-human aggression
Separation anxiety (this should be done through virtual lessons)
What to expect:

A 60 minute session in your home or ours about once weekly.
If any purchases were recommended to you during your lesson, you'll receive an email listing the recommended items.
Approximately 1 hour of homework per day. Your dog will only learn as much as you teach him. No homework = no results.
What to bring/prepare:

Make a list of the behaviors you'd like to talk about. Sometimes we go down rabbit holes, so it's helpful to have a list to ensure we cover each topic.
Have LOTS of treats ready! There's no such thing as too many treats. Your treats should be about the size of an M'n'M. No bigger!
We ask that you use high value food. Milkbones won't suffice for this! We want something closer to string cheese, hot dog, deli meat, boiled chicken, etc. and cut it up into tiny pieces. You will always use more treats than you think you need!
Have your dog's collar/harness and leash ready, in case we need to review leash walking.
If there are any props that would assist the training process, feel free to bring them (i.e. your dog is afraid of grandma's walker? bring the walker to your lesson).
Hey, don't sweat it! Many folks we work with have never hired a dog trainer before. Some have tried before but didn't get the results they wanted. Maybe you've trained your previous dog yourself, but your new furry friend is giving you a run for your money. Whatever your situation, we've seen it all! And whether you're a seasoned dog owner or a total newbie, we're here to make things fun and deepen your bond with your dog. Whether we are your first dog trainers or your 100th, we are committed to being your last!

A quality relationship with your dog trainer starts with realistic expectations and an appropriate program recommendation. This is why we do consultations! A consultation allows us to meet your family, evaluate your dog, and examine your lifestyle. From there, we can make a program recommendation that suits you and your dog best. Our recommendation is based on years of education, trial & error, and colleague consulting. Our suggestion will include everything we believe will set your dog and your family up for success, and to ensure you have all the appropriate tools moving forward to solve any future problems your dog may encounter.
